I guess i'll start off with a little introduction. Im 23 years old and Ive been playing poker my whole life. Since 2002 Ive been playing poker online, ya I know I broke the rules but who didnt. Ive been playing as a "pro" for the last 4 years although I only classify it as "pro" because thats how I make my living. I started out playing nlh SnG's, then made the move to MTTs, then cash games, then HU, then PLO. I get bored playing the same game types for long periods of time, I call it ADHD, you can call it what you may.
As of right now Ive been mixing it up with a little bit of everything but the last year Ive been working hard on my PLO game and HU. Since PLO has such crazy swings Ive been using HU to supplement my bankroll. These 2 game types really fit my style of play well since its more off a thinking game rather than the ABC NLH games available. Plus not a lot of people know how to play PLO well and HU although nlh is a different animal that requires an entire different level of thinking, but once you get there its pretty easy money.
If you care to look at my sharkscope you will notice that on pokerstars about a month ago theres a major downswing and your thinking this guys just got average stats. Well thats because i woke up on a nice Sunny sunday after having a +$1400 day the day before and decided to try and win a Main event package playing the $85 sats, then take the $250 tickets and turn those into a ME package hurray!!!. Unfortunately nobody told me that I was going to run like a quadriplegic that day and lose every flip, 60/40, and hell I even lost to one 2 outer and one horrible 1 outer where the villain ran out his straight flush after jamming the flop into my ace high flush. Needless to say i shoulda quit after the first hour of running like hell but after reviewing the session I kept telling myself that surely this -EV run couldnt last so i fired up another round and the bad run continued....-1k in less than 3 hours.
Having just cashed out a few thousand the night before to pay for our vegas week i was left with a bit of a dilemma since my online BR was not allowing me to play the games i wanted and i didnt want to drop down and play lower limits since i had been running well and playing great. do i a)try and rebuild my roll and play WSOP event 4 or b) redeposit and only play the event if my BR is in good standing. I chose option b and unfortunately for me my bad run continued for a few weeks and i ended up the month only +$800....a really horrible feeling when my bills eat up more than that per month and im about to be in Vegas in a week. So I was left with a diminished bankroll and had already dedicated the next week to getting ahead in my school work since id be missing a good portion of the 7 week spring semester.
i havent played yet today, ill post about my recent vegas trip and more current poker in the future. this seems like a solid first post.
